About me

I am a UK fully-trained psychotherapist and person centred and CBT integrative counsellor and coach.

As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I offer a safe and warm environment where together we can explore your difficulties and a potential solution and way forward. My experience means I can offer a range of psychotherapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the Person Centred approach.

Many years of research has demonstrated that the most important factor for a successful outcome with talk-based therapy is the quality of the relationship.

A relationship built on love and trust and one that is boundaried is essential to ensure the emotional safety and stability of the two people involved. This allows for collaboration, vulnerability and patience during the therapeutic process.

How I will work with you..

I work in an integrative way, which means that I will use a range of psychotherapies specially tailored to your specific needs and how you feel. I will make every effort to carefully listen to you and provide a safe place where we can work out and understand your difficulties or just simply begin to explore them.

Guided by my experience, intuition and professional training, I will fascilitate your journey as you work through your presenting issues. I may challenge you to look at things from an alternative perspective and enable you to consider your way of thinking and I will always endeavour to work in your best interests and make you aware of your strengths and support you as you discover and reflect on new insights.

I appreciate that attending therapy - especially on a regular weekly basis can at times be daunting and difficult and I will ensure that you can always choose the matters you bring to therapy and remain in absolute control of what and how much you share.

Your first session with me..

Your first session with me will be an opportunity for us to both get to know each other a little. It's a time for you to ask me questions and see whether you want to work with me and there will be time for you to tell me what brings you to therapy and what your expectations and hopes are.

After our first session you can think about how you feel about working with me and whether you think that therapy will benefit you. I offer therapy on a short-term basis (6 sessions), long-term (12 sessions or more) or open-ended.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
