About me
Daniel Bellerby, BSc (Hons), PgDip, MA, FRSPH, MBACP, MNCPS (acc)
I am an integrative, relational psychotherapist. Offering individual, couple, family, and friendship work in York and Beverley, as well as secure online sessions for clients across the UK and abroad. (I also offer business and EAP therapy provision - please contact me directly.)
My practice, Therapy With Daniel, is grounded in the belief that the relationship between therapist and client is part of how change happens, not just the space in which it takes place, and that honest, non‑judgemental curiosity about who you are can help make lasting change possible.
I offer flexible, client‑led booking - including early‑morning and evening ‘out‑of‑hours’ sessions - and can accommodate changing rotas, such as those for NHS staff, emergency services, and others whose work patterns are irregular. Sessions are priced on an honour‑based, self‑select scale, so the cost reflects what you can afford.
My practice is non‑judgemental, empathetic, and evidence‑informed, giving you agency and adapting to your pace rather than expecting you to fit a fixed model. All are welcome: I aim to be affirming for LGBTQ+ clients and equally open to those from traditional religious, cultural, or family backgrounds.
Examples of work (to help you think about what we might focus on)

- Identity‑related concerns, including masculinity, sexuality, and life-stage transitions
- Menstrual or menopause‑related changes
- Domestic abuse, coercive control, and abusive behaviour (including work with people seeking to change harmful patterns)
Training, qualifications & experience
How I work
I work relationally and practise integrative psychotherapy across individual, couple, and psychosexual work. My training enables me to draw on psychodynamic, attachment, person‑centred, somatic, transactional analysis, emotion‑focused, CBT, ACT, solution‑focused, existential, and systemic frameworks without imposing a single model on every client. In practice, this means we pay attention both to what is happening in your life and to what is happening between us, using the therapeutic relationship as part of the mechanism of change.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Consultation, first step
Reaching out is often the hardest part, and many people wait before making that first move - that’s completely normal. I offer a free 20‑minute phone call consultation to explore what brings you to therapy, answer any practical questions, and help us both gauge whether working together feels right, with no obligation to continue.
What to expect in your first session
Beyond the consultation, your first session is a chance to talk through what's brought you to therapy in more depth, ask any questions, and get a clearer sense of whether we're a good fit to work together - there's no pressure to have everything figured out beforehand.
I'll ask about your current situation and what you're hoping for, and we'll begin to explore how integrative, relational therapy might support you, working at your pace rather than fitting you into a fixed structure.
Sessions can take place in person in York and Beverley, or securely online by video or phone, whichever suits you best.
Assessment
We will complete an intake assessment to meet the ethical and insurance guidelines I follow in order to practise. It is an easy-to-use ‘click-through’ form. Depending on which is easiest for you, it can be completed in your own time or in the first session.
