Hey there! I understand that reaching out for help can be hard, so I offer a welcoming, judgement-free space to talk and take a calm approach to working through the things that are bothering you. I aim to build a positive, open and caring therapeutic relationship with my clients and develop trust by giving you my undivided attention and empathy as we discuss the various issues that you may be dealing with. Person-centred therapy is exactly that - it's totally centred around you as an individual- therefore we will move at your pace and structure each session around whatever it is you want to talk about that week.
I'm also passionate about breaking the stigma around therapy, and thoroughly believe that everyone can benefit from therapeutic help. You don't necessarily have to have anything 'wrong' in your life to seek help from a counsellor, sometimes it's just nice to speak to someone unbiased, unload some recent stress in a safe environment or take a few moments out of your busy week to reset. I am open to working with you regardless of your reasons for reaching out, nothing is too big or too small.
I'm offering my services currently over the phone, via video call or in person. This allows for a more flexible arrangement, and means you can receive counselling from the comfort of your own home or in my cosy and welcoming counselling room, depending on your preference. I primarily operate on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for phone/online and Friday each week in-person.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have recently qualified from the University of Salford with a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also hold a Level 4 certificate in Counselling. I have been training for over 5 years, and practicing for 2.5 years of that.
I am mainly trained to facilitate Person-Centred counselling, but I also have experience with Cognitive-Behavioural therapy and so take an integrative approach to my work - meaning that I draw on elements from both types in order to fit my clients individual needs.
Some of the issues that I have experience with are: depression, low mood, anxiety, stress, grief, addiction, PTSD, body dysphoria and difficulties resulting from the COVID pandemic . These are only a few of the issues I have dealt with, but I have experience with many more.
I volunteered with a charity for almost 2 years during the pandemic, providing clients with an essential lifeline during an uncertain period in time, and more recently have been working with the counselling clinic at the University of Salford, supporting students and giving back to a campus that gave so much to me.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
