Dr Clare Lennie
I am a Chartered and Registered Counselling Psychologist with over fifteen years experience of delivering personal therapy, supervision and training in Counselling and Counselling Psychology.
Deciding to come for counselling is often a big decision to make and finding the right person to work with can be daunting. I respect this and take great care in my work in ensuring that clients feel safe, respected and valued in order for them to discuss and explore the issues that are of concern to them and move on with their lives. I offer an initial free 15 minute telephone consultation to help clients make this choice.
It is also important that clients feel comfortable and at ease in the physical environment where they engage in their counselling; face to face sessions are held at the Silverwell House, Bolton, Lancashire. Silverwell House is easily accessed from the M61 or train network and there is convenient parking alongside the premises. You can be assured of confidentiality and the premises offer a professional, pleasant and discreet environment.
Sessions can be on a face to face basis, by telephone or via Skype. Each session is usually 60 minutes, longer sessions can be individually negotiated. Duration of work can just be a one off consultation or a number of on going sessions as required.
I am an integrative therapist who is able to draw on a number of different models of therapy in supporting clients to reach their desired goals, these models include cognitive behavioural therapy, person centred and psychodynamic approaches. I also offer coaching and professional development sessions and, for those qualified or training in counselling and counselling psychology, personal therapy and clinical supervision.

I believe that, given the right conditions, humans are able to heal themselves by exploring and investigating from different perspectives the issues that are of concern to them. In my differing roles within psychology I have worked with clients and students from 16 to 84 years of age from a myriad of different cultural backgrounds. I believe strongly that every individual is unique with his or her own ability to reach their potential, given the right environment. I offer a safe therapeutic space for clients to undertake this type of work in moving forward with their lives.
My employment background:
Aside from my therapeutic work, I am also a trained teacher and worked for 10 years at Oldham Sixth Form College teaching GCSE, A, A/S Psychology and health related vocational courses. I also taught on teacher training programmes at Bolton University and on Education and Counselling Psychology Masters and Doctorate programmes at the University of Manchester.
Due to my clinical and academic background I am pleased to offer reduced rates for trainees in counselling or counselling psychology for personal therapy, clinical and research supervision.
I have a particular interest in professional development of psychologists and offer coaching, mentoring and professional development in this area.
I also work on a consultancy basis with large organisations in developing safe psychological services in supporting the emotional needs of their client group. Please contact me to discuss your needs if your requirements are more organisation specific.
