About me

I offer face-to-face, online and phone counselling with evening and week-end appointments available to suit busy professionals.  Please click book an introductory call or email  so we can connect and I can answer your questions.  I don't want to miss calls while with other clients.

Having qualified in 2004 I attract clients who are serious about getting the help that they need and willing to do the work. Faced with a choice of counsellors, it can be a task to find the right fit for you.  People say that I am easy to talk to and warm and friendly.

What is it you need help with?

Are you anxious, depressed, suffering from low-self esteem, struggling with relationships at home or at work. Are you facing stress or bullying at work?  Do you need to find a way of showing better self-care?  Maybe you have some form of additional learning need or disability?   You are welcome to book an introductory call or send an email to see if we are a good fit to work together to meet your need.

My approach:

It is my job to put you at ease in your first session so that you feel comfortable to talk through your challenges and problems.   I work in a bespoke way, tailouring my approach to what you feel you need and what helps you.  I work as an integrative counsellor which means we work together to find what helps you most.

First steps:

Either email me or book an introductory call or zoom as you prefer.  I offer a 15 minute free session (on zoom or audio) to make sure we're a good fit. You can click to book an introductory call from this profile.

How to find the best counsellor for YOU:

How do you know how to choose a counsellor?  It's a personal choice. The main thing is that you think you would be comfortable with the person and able to trust the person to be on your side, to hear you and support you without judgement and knowing the counsellor is on your side.  Do you have confidence that the counsellor can help you the problem you are dealing with?

What clients have said about working with me:

Deciding on counselling is a significant and brave step when facing challenges in life. It is important that you find the best counsellor for you. I am told that I am friendly, easy to talk to and that people feel they can trust me with their concerns knowing that they will not be judged and confidentiality will be maintained within stated boundaries to keep you safe.

Why I counsel:

I believe that the power of being heard without judgement can be very healing and empowering.  My style of counselling is for those who want to be heard in a safe environment and helped to better understand themselves and then empowered to make decisions that are right for them.

How I counsel:

I offer face-to-face, online and phone counselling to adults and young people with parental consent. I adapt my 'toolkit' to each client so that we work together as a team towards the goals that you want from counselling. It is crucial to me that you feel comfortable and can access the counselling in a way that works for you.

My motivation:

I love to empower clients and see clients gain confidence and empowerment. Specialisms include low-self esteem, anxiety, depression, workplace stress and bullying and relationship difficulties. I am a practicing Christian and this inspires me to offer counselling to people of faith and to those with no interest in religion.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP and have a Master Practitioner qualification in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). In addition, I have several coaching qualifications and a PGCE teaching qualification which helps me support flexibly depending on the client's learning and thinking styles. I have found investing in myself and my mental health has served me well in life's challenges and so I am passionate about helping others.

I offer integrative counselling drawing from a number of approaches as suits the client. Training includes person-centred counselling, cognitive-behavioural counselling, solution-focused counselling and NLP.

I also have experience setting up a counselling service within the education sector and supporting trainee counsellors at the start of their career.

I strongly recommend that you take time to check that whoever you choose is the best fit for you. It's your time and money that you are investing and I want you to have the best fit for you so that your counselling helps you meet the needs you express in the best possible way for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
