About me

Hi I'm Cathy, I work with adults, children and young people.

Sometimes life can feel very overwhelming, you or your child may be struggling to find your way, by exploring your situation together I can help you or your child to navigate the uncertainty.  Together we can explore thoughts and help to find clarity.

I have experience of working with Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Bereavement, low self esteem (confidence), bullying, work problems, self harm, relationship and friendship problems.

I work in a creative way with children and young people which allows them to feel comfortable and encourages them to open up and talk about their struggles.

Reaching out for support can feel really difficult

When you contact me for either yourself or your child we will arrange our first session and during this session we will explore what has brought you to counselling.  This is a great opportunity for you, your child and myself to decide if we think we will work well together, it will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and for me to get a good understanding of the problem, whilst clarifying anything you are unsure about.  This initial assessment session is not a commitment from you to continue, you will be offered time to get back to me so that you can think about it with no added pressure. If you do decide you wish to continue with further sessions we will work out if weekly or fortnightly suit you best.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Adult and Children/Young peoples counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) . I have been qualified since 2019 as a Person Centred Counsellor and have worked for a variety of organisations with individuals and groups.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
