About me

Together we can explore confidentially what is causing you distress, what's keeping it going and ways you can begin to alleviate your difficulties. Breaking down what can seem overwhelming and finding ways to manage can bring a change in behaviour and mood.

I am an Integrative Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. I am a registered member with both British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy BACP & BABCP to offer you Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Private therapy is offered both in person within Largs & Greenock counselling rooms and Online via zoom.

I have previously worked as a CBT Therapist within an NHS Community Mental Health Team and currently have a role within Ayrshire College Counselling Service as well as lecturing on the HNC Counselling Skills course.

Integrating and considering many therapeutic perspectives allows the therapy to be unique to what we may discover about what's causing you distress. Thus assisting us to use the best approaches to help you change the narrative of your life and behaviours that no longer serve you.

Understanding ourselves and our life situations can begin to shift the discomfort of emotionally distressing times. Applying new ways to cope and self care can build our confidence in taking one small step at a time to change our current situations. The relationship or alliance we can build will enable you to begin to explore what's keeping you stuck, what's driving it and ways that you can unlock yourself from past thinking and behaviours that you no longer feel comfortable with. In essence, you learn to become your own therapist.

We all at times in our lives need a safe space to truly listen to ourselves and be listened to. A confidential , non-judgemental connection assisting you explore what you need to hold on to and what you need to let go of.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
