About me

About me:

In 2012 I graduated with a post-graduate diploma in counselling  and is now a practising Therapist with  ACC. I became a certified sex addiction specialist (International Association of Certified Sex Addiction Specialists) in 2019.  I have done numerous trainings in Trauma and recently in Brainspotting.

I work exclusively with individuals who have been impacted by pornography and sexually addictive or sexually compulsive behavior in their primary relationship This has been my area of clinical specialization and research since 2015.

My clinical approach is rooted in the  Integrative Counselling Model and for couples I am using the Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model if there are infidelity in the marriage. I am Trauma Informed.

I offer individual and group therapy sessions.

To improve access to therapeutic care for clients, I  offer high-quality ethical care via zoom.

How Counselling Can Help
Counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable. It can provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings. As your counsellor, I will be there   to support you and respect your views.

I am committed to you to offer you a caring, supportive and non-judgmental space.

Training
I am a professionally trained integrative individual counsellor. I use Brainspotting as a powerful tool to process trauma, PTSD, OCD, Depression and other issues.   For couple counselling my approach is integrative drawing on the work of Gottman, Dr.Sue Johnson and Imago Relationship Therapy and the ERCEM  model. ERCEM - Early Couples Recovery Model -  is a relationship model for couples that focus on supporting the couple who discovered the impact of pornography on their marriage and if they want to heal from the impact.       I am also a certified Betrayal Trauma Specialist and support partners and spouses to help them overcome and heal well from the trauma of betrayal and affairs.

How I Work

I have spent the last 8 years walking alongside women around the globe who have been betrayed by their husbands/partners.  I work with betrayed wives and men with problematic sexual behaviours. Internationally I do this work through Naked Truth Project based in the UK and APSATS in US.

I was a speaker on four international conferences addressing the adverse affect Pornography has on committed relationships.

How I work:

My therapy approach is based on the belief that every human being is inherently precious and worthy of dignity, respect and compassion, no matter what they have done in the past or what problems they might have. As people, we have an amazing capacity to overcome tremendous adversity. Yet, sometimes trauma or ongoing challenge is so severe that we just get stuck and have difficulty moving past it.

My primary goal is to partner with you to help you develop the awareness and skill necessary to empower you on your path of recovery. I am direct, compassionate and supportive as I encourage the changes necessary for a satisfying life. I place high importance on building trust with my clients and believe that therapy is a dynamic process founded on a safe, secure relationship that provides both unconditional support and accountability. In addition, I incorporate interventions that are outcome-driven, evidence-based and task-centred for real and lasting change.

Whether your struggles involve compulsive behaviors, post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, abandonment issues, illness, grief or chronic shame, I help you tap into your ability to heal and resolve the underlying issues in order to flourish. It is possible to develop an integrated whole Self with the capacity for true love and connection!
