About me

I am a Person-Centred/Psychodynamic Counsellor and work integratively with my clients. I specialise in  Complex Partner Betrayal Trauma, PTSD, Trauma and DID. I am part of the movement within the therapeutic community who understands and specialises in the trauma sex addition—infidelity, pornography, and other forms of sexually acting out—causing a particular type of betrayal that traumatises the addict's partner. It is a specialised field and I am offering hope, restoration and healing from the devastation compulsive sexual behaviour cause in relationships.

I, therefore, offer support help for partners who are in a relationship with somebody with unhealthy compulsive sexual behaviour and the use of Pornography and consequently suffers from betrayal trauma.  I am trained in the  Multi-Dimensional Partner Trauma Model through the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts (APSATS) and this training equipped me to effectively support partners with compassion and understanding. I consult in person from my office at home and via internet platforms - mainly Zoom and Skype.

I  provide a genuine, accepting and empathic therapeutic relationship in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment in which you can explore your issues, without fear of judgment, and make choices about what is right for you. I am also open to exploring issues of faith, belief and spirituality.

I use Somatic experience as a form of alternative therapy aimed at relieving the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental and physical trauma-related health problems by focusing on the client's perceived body sensations (or somatic experiences).

Sand tray therapy is a form of expressive therapy Sand tray therapy I use in therapy sessions and this form of therapy allows a person to construct his or her own microcosm using miniature toys and sand. The scene created acts as a reflection of the person’s own life and allows him or her the opportunity to resolve conflicts, remove obstacles, and gain acceptance of self.

I provide a free informal telephone consultation and am happy to signpost you to other agencies if these would be more appropriate to your circumstances.

Please read below for further information regarding my qualifications, experience, availability, fees, etc.

Further information

I am working form my home office and online through Zoom.

Although I am trained as a person-centered/Psychodynamic practitioner, I work integratively depending on what the client feels comfortable with. I combine various techniques and tools to effectively work with the presenting issue. Techniques I use are mindfulness and relaxation techniques, creative interventions and Sand Tray or talk Therapy, depending on the issues being raised.

I work from home in Burntisland. I also have arrangements in place for access to a counselling room Dunfermline.

Much of my work has been with clients who have been deeply affected by trauma (eg, Betrayal Trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse and DID). I also have extensive experience in working with betrayal trauma in any long term committed relationship.
