Carin Dussé BA. Psych Honn., Dip. Counselling, APSATS CCPS, ACC,
I work with adults (over the age of 18) as an integrative counsellor, which involves a mix of Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Somatic Work with clients. I believe in establishing a strong foundation of trust and congruence with my clients in the therapeutic relationship. I have many years of experience working with clients from all walks of life. I am also working online for the last six years, offering small online therapeutic groups for partners struggling in their marriages. I have varied experience (detailed below) and work with many counselling issues with a specific focus and specialising in Betrayal Trauma and the Effect of Pornography in a committed relationship. I can help the partner and the couple who are struggling in their marriage due to the compulsive use of pornography or addiction to pornography. It is a specialised field, and I am offering hope, restoration, and healing from the devastation pornography brings in a marriage relationship.
I am trained in the Multi-Dimensional Partner Trauma Model through the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts (APSATS). This training equipped me to support partners and couples with compassion and understanding effectively.
Counselling sessions usually take place weekly, and each session lasts 50 minutes. The first session is a time of exploration where we can get to know each other and would help you to decide if I would be the right counsellor to help you. I’d be interested in finding out what you would like to achieve from counselling and would explain how the counselling process works. Some clients prefer a short-term approach, whilst others find it beneficial to take sessions on a longer-term basis.
I adhere to the ACC Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
How I work:
I consult in person from my office at home and via internet platforms - mainly Zoom and Skype.
I provide a genuine, accepting, and empathic therapeutic relationship in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where you can explore your issues, without fear of judgment, and make choices about what is right for you. I am also open to exploring issues of faith, belief, and spirituality.

Although I am trained as a person-centred/Psychodynamic practitioner, I work integratively depending on what the client feels comfortable with. I combine various techniques and tools to work with the presenting issue effectively. Techniques I use are mindfulness and relaxation techniques, creative interventions and Sand Tray or talk Therapy, depending on the raised issues.
Much of my work has been with clients who have been deeply affected by trauma (e.g., Betrayal Trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse, and DID). I also have extensive experience in working with betrayal trauma in any long term committed relationship.
I am working from my home office and online through Zoom.
