About me

Welcome to my practice

Relationship struggles can leave lasting imprints, but they also open doors to self-renewal. As a psychosynthesis therapist, I specialize in helping individuals rebuild self-esteem, heal emotional wounds, and gently navigate the path to fulfilling relationships and lives.

In both my personal and professional journeys, I've witnessed the profound truth that humans are inherently wired for meaningful and supportive connections. Yet, when faced with relational crises, the resulting experiences can be both dramatic and unexpectedly painful, making them challenging to navigate alone.

In these moments, the instinct to seek a safe space for healing, recovery, and resolution becomes a natural and essential step forward.

This is how you might be feeling...

You might find yourself questioning whether anyone truly cares about you, and in those moments, a yearning for a deeper connection resides deep within you. The weight of repeated rejections, disappointments, and hurt may have left you feeling insecure and fragile about your sense of self.

It's not uncommon to harbour anxieties, feeling lost and confused, asking yourself, 'What's wrong with me?' or wondering why you might believe you deserve betrayal, abandonment, neglect, or abuse.

Understandably, you may face challenges in identifying your needs, articulating your desires, and establishing firm boundaries. These struggles are often hard to navigate alone, especially when you cannot fully share your emotional burdens with friends and family.

I help people through various love & relationship dynamics, such as

• Recovering from abusive, controlling, or unhealthy relationships
• Contemplating whether to stay in a relationship or marriage
• Seeking to enhance communication, intimacy, and conflict resolution in their current relationship
• Addressing anxious attachment patterns and breaking the cycle of choosing emotionally unavailable partners
• Building confidence and reducing dependence on emotional support from their partners
• Navigating feelings of hopelessness about finding fulfilling love
• Feeling defeated in the dating world and struggling to find their ideal partner
• Returning to the dating scene after years and aiming to approach new relationships with renewed hope and improved emotional skills.

What you might gain from working together

My goal is to help you safely explore and express your emotions, make sense of your suffering, and build inner safety by getting in touch with your inner resources, as well as what brings you true meaning, value, and purpose.

Together, we can work on establishing a stronger sense of identity, so you can become rooted in an authentic sense of self, trust your instincts, and practise assertive communication in all sorts of challenging situations.

In time, you may feel able to build a life that's in alignment with your authentic wishes and values and cultivate fulfilling and mutually supportive relationships whilst contributing to making the world a better place and maintaining a healthy life-work harmony and balance.

Why Psychosynthesis counselling & therapy?

At the heart of my counseling & therapy practice lies a distinctive approach designed to transcend traditional methods. Drawing from psychosynthesis, a psychospiritual psychology, I guide individuals through a transformative journey that delves beyond the surface of the mind. Utilizing embodied, creative, and imaginal techniques, we tap into the profound wisdom of the unconscious and unleash creative potentialities.

What makes my approach truly stand out is the emphasis on intuitive soul-making practices that can facilitate the complex process of stepping into self-leadership. By incorporating guided visualizations and symbolic imagery, I invite you to recreate your narratives and discover new ways of being, choosing, and directing your precious life energy.

In essence, I am not merely a counsellor; I am a companion on your journey of self-discovery and personal growth, offering a gentle, yet deeply attuned and skilled presence to facilitate the profound shifts that lead to lasting transformation. Together, we embark on a path that goes beyond the concrete mind, accessing the core of your being and fostering a genuine connection with your inner resources.

I have a keen interest in individuals who...

• identify as caring, highly sensitive, ambitious and kind but struggle with overgiving, perfectionism, burnout and people-pleasing
• wish to cultivate long-term, healthy, fulfilling and mutually supportive relationships and friendships, but sometimes struggle when navigating attachment issues, conflict, and differences
• are on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth and understand that their needs and wishes don't make them selfish, yet sometimes struggle to allow themselves to fully pursue their fulfillment
• feel like their family of origin's black (or rainbow) sheep, realize they do not wish to perpetuate their family's dysfunctional dynamics and feel moved by visions of healing, restoration and transformation on both personal and collective levels
• have some kind of creative passion or hobby they occasionally play around with, yet wish to find ways to value and grow more sustainably as part of their regular rhythms
• are appalled at the level of suffering, injustice, and oppression in the world and feel deeply motivated by some kind of inner calling to have a meaningful impact through their innate gifts, creative talents and hard-earned skills

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Testimonials:

"I feel very grateful to have received counselling, support and guidance from Bristena over the past few months. Her warm and nurturing approach made me feel incredibly seen, understood and safe. With her support, I've been able to connect the dots across my life bringing me a lot of clarity and awareness. I feel more grounded, safe in myself and aware of my energy - things I will always be thankful for."

"After working with Bristena, I felt a major improvement in my life. I decided to make my life about me and my well-being first and not let other people get me down. Adopting and implementing this attitude in my daily life made me feel empowered, liberated and more self-caring than I have ever been. Thank you, Bristena!"

"Got stress? Good. I had many sessions with therapists, but I was never this relaxed like I am right now, after a session with Bristena. I've never been this relaxed in my whole life. At first, I didn't expect much, but she blew my mind. She is very authentic and made me feel like it's okay to have all those feelings. We did some inner child work, which took everything to the next level. Anyone who is going through some emotional pain right now should immediately contact her and appoint a session. As a future psychiatrist, I have a lot to learn from her."

"Bristena's calm, gentle approach melted my fears away. Her patience and skill helped me not only identify the deep-seated trauma that's affected every aspect of my life but also accept and work with the emotions connected to key incidents. Throughout five sessions, a deep trust in Bristena developed and I was able to openly discuss intimate details. And now, I am so grateful to be able to view my life as an adventure, knowing I can trust my heart, body, mind, and soul. Thank you, Bristena!"

About me

Born in Romania, I moved to London in 2013. In 2014 I experienced a major turning point. I lost all passion for the law degree I was studying at the time. I was desperate for more meaning in life, so I quit my studies at King's College London and embarked on a personal journey of self-inquiry and healing.

In my explorations, I came across various fields of personal development, healing, spirituality and therapy, as well as their interplay. When psychosynthesis came into my life, a light bulb went off, and I knew I had arrived "home". I have devoted my life to studying and applying its context and techniques for psychospiritual development and the evolution of human consciousness.

As a highly sensitive, empathic and caring person, I feel called to facilitate healing, growth and transformation in the lives of those ready and willing to change for the better.

I have always sensed the innate evolutionary potential that longs to become fulfilled through human beings. We all seem to yearn to express our unique combination of strengths, interests and yearnings in service to the larger story of mankind. Our trials and obstacles are inevitable stepping stones for our growth and maturation.

"The wound is the place where the Light enters you", said 12th-century Sufi poet and mystic Rumi. My counselling and therapy practice is based on this philosophy - I am dedicated to helping people heal their traumas, shine their soul gifts and embrace authentic self-expression.

In my free time, I write poetry, dance, read, practise yoga & meditation, enjoy quality time with friends and walk in nature. I am currently based in South London with my beloved partner.
