About me
I am a person-centred counsellor committed to the principle that we all have an inner tendency that can help us to find meaning in our lives. I regard my role as counsellor to support you in gaining access to this tendency. When we are able to do this, we are better able to resolve issues in our own way, adapt to changing circumstances and situations while becoming more trusting, and accepting of the person we are.
I have practiced as a school counsellor for the past ten years in a large comprehensive school in the West Midlands providing a service for students and staff. I have also worked in the voluntary sector as a member of a bereavement support team, a counselling service for children and young people and with adults in a refugee and migrant support centre.
Should you feel that the experience and background I have means I might be able support you, or someone you care for, please make contact and I will arrange an initial introductory meeting with you over the telephone.
Training, qualifications & experience
My formation as a counsellor has been founded on an educational element (I hold master’s degrees in education and counselling) and a more informal element grounded in self-development (I have trekked alone as a pilgrim, including through the Pyrenees and on to Santiago de Compostela, engage in contemplative practices and written - published - articles on education, spirituality, and counselling).
Over the past fifteen years I have been employed as a school counsellor in a large comprehensive school.
I continue to work privately and in the voluntary sector as a counsellor at a refugee and migrant centre.
Member organisations
The Association of Christian Counsellors and Linked Professions is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
