About me

I am a registered member of the BACP and offer confidential counselling from my practice in Wimbledon.

I have experience of working with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement and relationship difficulties.

My overall strategy is based upon the principle that people have choices and are responsible for their own decisions. I aim to work integratively both in long term and short term interventions. I am able to recognize that working in a time-limited way in an environment such as the NHS  can be helpful for many clients. I have found that having a clearly identifiable goal/problem to work on can promote independence and autonomy. On these occasions, I may draw on basic CBT and solution focused techniques to help clients understand how feelings, thoughts and behaviours are interconnected. I also explore with the clients, their own past resilience and ideas about how they would like life to be and what they would like to do to change that. I keep in mind psychodynamic principles such as attachment and loss and, transference, counter transference processes and projections, and how this may be impacting on the client’s presentation in short term therapy.

Using the psychology that personalities are formed by a combination of conscious and unconscious factors, my humane approach is intended to help clients understand that their present problems can in many ways be very much related to their past and that their acceptance of this can indeed be a very effective form of therapy.

Every individual is different and therefore everyone is approached using a variety of techniques and tools that can benefit them.

I also work on an open-ended contract as at times this might be necessary to provide the right treatment plan that can be tailored to meet individual needs.

By using my knowledge and experience of this form of counselling and working together we will be able to evaluate the very best way to go forward.
