About me
For more information and to book a free introductory meeting online, please click above to visit my website.
I am a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist offering online sessions via zoom. I offer a warm, non-judgmental and confidential space in which you can talk freely and openly about your life, worries and stresses. I have particular knowledge and experience working with neurodiversity so if you have a diagnosis of ASD or ADHD or you are on a pathway to diagnosis (official or self-diagnosis), do get in touch. I also work with parents and carers to support neurodiverse children and young people.
How I can help
It can be hard to take the decision to see a therapist when there are so many competing demands on our time and our resources. It can also feel like a big step to take. I believe that we should look after our mental health in the same way that we look after our physical health. Talking therapy can be an important tool in supporting this. Whether you are feeling low or stressed, or whether you simply want to understand yourself better, I can help you explore your feelings and difficulties so that you can gain some clarity, make positive changes and feel better.
I am trained in an integrative relational approach to psychotherapy which means my main focus is on developing a warm and therapeutic relationship with my clients. I draw on elements of humanistic and psychodynamic theory and I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy where this may be helpful.
Next steps
It is really important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. I offer a free, no-obligation initial 15 minute meeting so that you can decide whether I am the right therapist for you. During this meeting, you can tell me a little about yourself and what you hope to get from therapy. I can also answer any questions you may have. Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Masters in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (University of Roehampton) and I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have experience working in the NHS, in a GP surgery, and in a counselling agency. For the last five years, alongside my private practice, I have managed a counselling service for an autism charity and I have a particular interest in supporting people on the autism spectrum and their families.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
