About me

BACP Registered Counsellor Dip

BA Hons Youth & Community Work

I am an experienced and qualified Person-Centred Counsellor. I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have many years of experience working with individuals facing various situations that may require them to seek counselling services.

My main focuses in counselling consist of adults with addiction issues (eg alcoholism and substance dependence). As well as people suffering from anxiety, bereavement, or difficult family situations, in addition to other related topics.

I am well acquainted with working with people who have anxiety. I understand that anxiety can negatively impact a person's life. Anxiety is a natural response in people facing uncertain and sometimes threatening situations. The benefit of having an experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate counsellor to help guide you through your anxiety can be immensely helpful and have a direct and positive impact on your quality of life and mental well-being.

My background of working in children's residential settings has aided me in developing my awareness of how complex family dynamics can be, as well as simultaneously making me a considerate and patient person. My own experience of working in close contact with those who have first-hand experiences with family issues has given me a unique understanding of the challenges faced by these individuals. My practical knowledge helps me to navigate problems presented to me by clients and allows me to help them to deal with their issues in a practical and constructive manner.

I have many years of experience working with clients that have experienced difficulties with bereavement. Grief can shake everything up your beliefs, your routines, and even your sense of normality. Working through bereavement is accepting what happened, learning to adjust to life without that person and finding a place to keep their memory alive.

Counselling approach

I am passionate about supporting individuals struggling with their mental health. I do this by approaching all situations with compassion and acceptance. I actively listen to what is said by my clients so that I can first understand them myself and then aid them in understanding their own circumstances and how to navigate them and improve them in retrospect and for the future. I adapt my sessions to support my client's specific needs to make effective positive changes in their lives.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
