When I was a child I used to lose myself in fairy tales, the heroine/hero’s journey with all the obstacles they had to overcome in order to grow and fulfil their destiny. Imagine that my job as a Counsellor is similar to the character who appears in the story to support and guide the heroine/hero through a difficult task or period in their life; to help her/him/they discover and tame their inner monsters. Disclaimer: This guide does not have any magic powers or a magic wand; therefore, the heroine/hero will have to put in their share of work. Fear not though, this guide does have quite a few not so magical but very useful powers: patience, authenticity, imagination and a sense of humour (which sometimes on these journeys you will discover that it helps).
So, what is your story? Do you feel disconnected from the world around you and that you don’t belong anywhere? Maybe your mind feels like a scary character sometimes, whose negative narrative stops you from enjoying your life and creating meaningful connections. Do you feel that you are not good enough and that you don’t deserve to be loved?
Whatever your old story is, you can change it. It’s not an easy journey and it will take time; sometimes you might want to give up when the going gets tough. But just as the heroine/hero gets transformed by their quest, so will you, if you find your inner strength to stick around. I will surely be there, to guide you, as best that I can.
I use the Psychosynthesis model who sees you as a unique individual having a purpose in life, with challenges and obstacles to overcome to fulfil that purpose. My work aims to empower you to heal from past wounds, embrace your uniqueness so you can grow into the person you want to become, and thrive in your life and your relationships.
