About me

Regardless of our background we all go through difficult moments in our lives, leaving us overwhelmed and often struggling with anxiety and depression. It could be that nothing seems to work out, that life events are hard to overcome, or you feel exploited and disempowered and would like that to change. Maybe you feel let down, restless, unfulfilled and needing to make sense of life. It could be that you want to build the confidence to forge deep meaningful relationships, to enjoy the intimacy you desire in your romantic relationships. Whatever the reason is that brings you to this point - it is ok to look for someone to talk to.

It would be my pleasure to guide you in your journey and to enable you to find the answers you are seeking. I am a compassionate listener and like to think of myself as a warm, straight forward person, working empathetically and passionately to help you find meaning and purpose as well as to become more congruent and attuned and enjoy better relationships.

I also work with issues around sex and sexuality and sexual offending.

Training, qualifications & experience

BA(Hons) Humanistic Counselling Practice

Certificate of Higher Education Professionals Counselling Practice

Stopso Initial Training

I started my training as a Counsellor back in 2006 with Nottingham Counselling Service and volunteered there until 2012, when I also started my own private practice.

My approach is mainly Person-Centred, although I adapt my work to incorporate elements of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and from the Existential approach as per what my clients need or prefer.

Throughout my career it became apparent that sex and sexuality are themes that impact greatly on people’s lives and that there is a pattern around substance misuse and sexual offending, for this reason I have decided to further my study and do an MSc Psychosexual Therapy, for which I am currently attending the second year at the University of Central Lancashire.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
