About me

It’s important you know that the first session is for you to assess how you feel about the counselling process. You are not obliged to commit yourself to any session other than the one you have booked.
Having a no obligation initial conversation allows you the space to make an informed decision in embarking on that first counselling session. I believe this to be a fundamental part of assessing if I may be the right therapist for you.

I understand that a trusting relationship is key to working collaboratively with clients to explore past relationships and desired changes for the future. I believe in the value of honesty by creating a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental environment where you can talk freely and openly about your experience, this is the core of my approach. I aim with truth and integrity to explore the difficulties and challenges you are experiencing in your life; we will work together to detangle what's happening for you.  I appreciate how past events can affect clients’ daily lives; I work with clients to identify a primary focus helping to make sense of difficulties in the context of the client’s life right now. This means I place an importance in exploring the root cause of emotional pain whilst working to find a way forward that is forward for you.

I am trained to work with the client’s preference for modality and pace. Drawing on a range of theories including Person centred, Psychodynamic and CBT sessions are tailored to best suit client’s needs with a goal-oriented vision of the future, offering support to determine the skills and resources within self to achieve that vision successfully.

Andrea is a qualified Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of both British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and National Society for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
