About me

Hello and thank you for looking at my profile, my name is David Holden and I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist...

Struggling with anxiety, feeling low and having depression is affecting so many people today, especially with what we have all gone through with Covid. Physically and mentally Covid has caused so much harm to ourselves and family members, some of us have even lost loved ones. So if you are feeling any of the emotions above (social or health anxiety) or just want to talk to someone about how you feel and need some solutions/techniques to help you cope, then please email me or call me to book a session. I have worked with anxiety and depression for many years as well as bereavement, addiction and many other mental health conditions.

Sometimes life throws obstacles in our path, and we are unable to deal with them alone, this is where counselling can be very helpful, together we can find the best way forward, and get your life back on track.
You may find it really helpful to talk things through with a qualified professional in a nurturing, non-judgemental, confidential space.

I can offer appointments every day, morning, afternoon or evening, seven days a week, so I am sure we can find a space to suit us both.

I have worked in many different settings -  Primary Care [GP surgery], Bereavement agency, I have worked in schools, working with children form the ages of 11 to 18, and in Private Practice - which means that I have experience in a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, addictions, phobias, low self-esteem, self-harm, suicide, bereavement, relationship problems, work-related stress etc.

I am an integrative counsellor which means I draw from a number of theoretical approaches which include Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred, and more.

We can work long term or short term, home visits may be possible if mobility is a problem - please enquire, I can pretty much work around most schedules, there is nothing we cannot achieve

I also offer skype counselling, or telephone counselling for clients who would find it difficult to commit to face to face counselling

First time bookings can be charged if cancelled within 48 hours (counsellors discretion)

I have plenty of parking space and disabled access

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
