About me

Hi and a very warm welcome, I'm Yasin, a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor and Therapist. Starting therapy takes courage and strength - so I commend you for taking this first step and I'm glad you're here.

You don't need to be the most confident or self-assured version of yourself here. You can be however you feel - it's all welcome.

I can offer you a warm, consistent space to speak freely, better understand yourself and find relief from your struggles and difficulties (scroll down for examples of specific issues I can help you with).

Key details

  • My fee is £50 per session - reduced rates for specific groups - see bottom of this page.
  • Free 20 minute intro call - to help you decide if you'd feel comfortable with me (video call or phone).
  • I provide online sessions only, for adults (over 18) that live in the UK.

Examples of issues I can help you with

What you're going through might not be reflected in the below list, and that's ok.

If you think we'd be a good fit, I'd gently encourage you to still reach out - so we can discuss what's happening for you and if we might work well together.

  • Feeling low, depressed or quite disconnected
  • Anxiety and persistent worrying
  • Struggles in your relationship - like intimacy or conflict
  • Stress, exhaustion or overworking
  • Feeling alone, isolated or lacking connection
  • The long-term impacts of damaging childhood experiences
  • Self-esteem, confidence and not feeling good enough
  • Worries about the future and what you want for yourself
  • The pressure to succeed or keep up with others
  • Strained relationship/s with your parent/s
  • Mixed-heritage experiences and cultural conflicts
  • Identity and belonging
  • Discrimination, racism and ableism
  • Hair loss

The start of our time together

Early on, we'll just be getting to know each other a little bit. It's often at this stage, that we might talk about what you might want and need from therapy. I'll then work collaboratively with you to understand how you're finding things along the way. Examples of things you might want to move towards could include:

  • Understanding yourself more - like why you might be feeling numb, low or anxious.
  • Processing the long-term impacts of damaging events or periods of time from your childhood.
  • Uncovering the root causes of struggles in your relationships or work-life.
  • Finding ways to cope with anxiety or stress - and the physical symptoms that come with it.
  • Coming to terms with big changes, like a painful break up.
  • Or maybe, there's something else you'd like to focus on - which I'd be more than happy to discuss with you in your free consultation.

We can also regularly review the the therapy, as we go - and make relevant adjustments along the way.

My style of therapy

I'm an Integrative and relational Therapist which means I use a mix of therapeutic approaches to best support you - based on your specific struggles or challenges. My two main therapeutic approaches are person-centred therapy and psychodynamic therapy.

Some benefits of this type of therapy:

  • You'll have full control of the pace and direction of the therapy - this is your space.
  • You can understand yourself more and figure out why you feel the way you do.
  • You can come to terms with difficult early-life experiences, that might be causing you issues now.
  • You can get to know the core beliefs and emotions that are working behind the scenes - and causing you difficulty.
  • You can learn about your repeated patterns - and build new ones.
  • You can find long-lasting change and personal growth.

I've provided more information about these approaches on my website - simply click the visit website button at the top of this page to learn more.

I’m able to work short-term (10-12 sessions) or long-term/open-ended. In my experience, difficulties with a fair amount of history can take time to unpack and in these cases, longer-term/open-ended work will be more effective. I may offer a gentle recommendation, but the duration of our time together will always be your choice.

Some benefits of having your sessions online

  • More able to balance our sessions with your work-life, family-life or other commitments.
  • You can save time and money on car journeys, train journeys or bus rides.
  • You can join from the comfort of your own home - which might be particularly helpful if you're needing to manage a disability or health-condition.

Key things to consider when having sessions online

  • Are you comfortable using internet technology like Zoom?
  • Do you have access to a space that you can use privately without interruption or being overheard?
  • Do you feel safe in your home or the location you'd be joining from?

Adjustments for Disabled and Neurodivergent people

If you're Disabled or Neurodivergent, I would really welcome an open conversation with you to explore adjustments we can put in place to make sure the therapy meets your needs. You can find examples of some adjustments by clicking onto the view website button.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I am very mindful that while counselling is an investment in yourself, it can also be expensive and not financially accessible for lots of people. And I feel strongly about making counselling more accessible. That's why I offer a low-cost option for certain groups. This includes...

  • anyone that's unable to work due to their disability or health condition.
  • anyone earning below £25,000 a year.
  • university students.
  • counselling students.

This is something I'd be happy to discuss in our initial consultation.
