About me
Whether you're feeling low, anxious, stuck, overwhelmed or anything in between, it's all welcome here. It's a profound act of courage to send that initial email, enquiring to start counselling, and I want to commend you for starting this process.
My name is Yasin and I'm a registered BACP registered counsellor. I aim to provide a safe, reliable, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to discuss whatever has been causing you difficulty.
I first received counselling as a young person in school. I recall feeling safe and heard by my counsellor. Two things that were lacking for me at the time. I then returned to counselling later on in life when I was struggling with my mental health. Counselling has been a really important, valuable experience for me at times when I needed someone to lean on. That's why I chose to become a counsellor myself; to offer others what was offered to me.
How do I work?
I'm a relational counsellor, which essentially means that our relationship is key to the outcome of our time together. I believe that my offering of trust, safety, attentiveness and warmth are the essential ingredients for you to feel safe enough to share things that you might not feel comfortable sharing with others.
I am able to work with anyone who is experiencing common mental health problems, such as anxiety, loneliness, low mood and sadness. But I'm not a big believer in labels telling the whole story. There are often multiple factors, often happening all at once that can cause someone to find themselves in a difficult place. What I do believe in is the value of a trusting therapeutic relationship, and seeing the whole person for who they are.
Every counsellor tends to be trained within a specific approach. My core approaches are person-centred counselling and psychodynamic counselling. But most importantly, here's what this means for you.
Person-centred counselling is led by you but I will help to facilitate our discussion and listen to you, without judgment or interruption. Many people who start counselling aren't quite sure what they're feeling or why they're feeling the way they do. Person-centred counselling aims to help you make sense of this confusion or messiness, and grow your self-awareness and live a life that's true to your wants and needs, rather than the wants and needs of others.
Psychodynamic counselling: Many of us may move through life finding certain things really hard, without quite knowing why. For example, finding it hard to trust others, or feel that we're worthy of being accepted for who we truly are. Psychodynamic counselling can begin to unpack how your early-life experiences may be shaping how you experience things, here and now. Over time, my hope is that you learn to make sense of what you're feeling, why you might be feeling that way and that this new awareness can support the way you experience your relationships and the world around you.
Here's some examples of what psychodynamic counselling might look like in our sessions:
- When it feels relevant, we might recall significant moments from your childhood and teenage years.
- Using our relationship as a safe base, we can explore what it's like for you to express and experience certain emotions with others.
- We might gently look at patterns of behaviour that are rooted in your early-life experiences.
Accessibility support for Disabled and Neurodivergent people
If you're Disabled or Neurodivergent, I would welcome the chance to have an open conversation to explore what I can put in place to support you throughout our time together. It's really important to me that you feel able to share what you feel you might need. This can absolutely be an ongoing conversation we have as it may adapt over the course of our time together.
Getting started:
You can contact me whenever you feel ready to. I aim to respond to email enquiries within 48 hours.
I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation. This is a chance for us to briefly get to know each other before you make any decisions. But also, for me to get a sense of what's brought you here and gauge if I'm best placed to work with you.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
