About me

Are you unsure who to talk to? It needn't be a friend or a member of your family. As a trained psychotherapeutic counsellor I can help you to explore your feelings, emotions and thoughts without you feeling judged in any way. I offer a safe space to help you unpick the issues you are facing in the present day, from your past and help you to understand the effect such issues are having on you and those around you.

I am an integrative counsellor with a person centred approach, which means I can draw on different techniques and theories to help find the best way to work together whilst we explore your feelings, emotions and thoughts. Everyone is different and its important to explore what works for you and find what you need to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.

I can help with anxiety, stress, depression, loss, bereavement and grief, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, relationship issues, living with a terminal illness and what facing your one mortality looks like, work-related issues, change, uncertainty, and generally feeling stuck in life.

I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to identify your needs and discuss how we can work together. We will then arrange a suitable time for our first session, either in person or online. Sessions are 50-60 minutes.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and NCPS (National Counselling & Psychotherapist Society) and adhere to their professional standards and ethics.

I attend regular supervision and continuous professional development.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have spent the past two years working with Cruse Bereavement helping clients to process their grief after losing a loved one. I realise not all relationships are happy ones and when you lose a loved one, or someone you cared about, you may be grieving the unresolved issues and conflict. I am trained to help you process such conflict and learn about ways to grieve in a more healthy way.

I support a bereavement group and would be happy to meet with small groups of people in my local area to encourage members to share their experiences, understand the grief journey and help create a support network for the group members.

During the past two years, I also worked as a Cancer Support Coordinator with Macmillan supporting people living with a cancer diagnosis, partners, friends, family and careers on a one-to-one basis. I have experience working with clients who reached the end of life and understand that they need to be heard to enable them to process what is happening throughout their journey.

I have a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice, and a Foundation in bereavement and have attended various CPD events with a focus on self-harm, suicide, anxiety and chronic stress.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

NCPS
National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
