About me

I often get asked why I decided to be a counsellor. The answer is that my own personal counselling changed the direction of my life and there started my journey on this road.
I believe that each person is unique and that therapy should be tailored towards individual needs. We can all find ourselves in situations that we find overwhelming and sometimes it’s hard to talk to those closest to us. I offer a safe space which is completely confidential, so you can be reassured that whatever you say stays in the counselling room. This will be your time and the sessions will be client led. Together you and I will explore your thoughts, feelings and goals to try and make sense of what has brought you to counselling in the first place.
I am able to offer face to face, online or telephone sessions.

Free consultation.

I understand that the thought of counselling can be daunting. For this reason I offer an introductory call and depending on the outcome of this a free 20 minute consultation so that we can meet before you decide to engage to see if we are a good fit. It's important that we feel comfortable working together. In this session we can discuss what it is that you hope to gain from counselling, and it will be a chance for you to ask any questions that you may have. If you have any initial questions, please feel free to call or email me in advance to this.
Therapy can be exposing so it’s really important that you feel happy in the environment that we are working in.

What happens next?

If you decide to engage, weekly sessions will last 50 minutes and cost £45 per session. This can be for long or as short as you feel you need. We will regularly review progress, helping you to make this decision.

I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor with experience of working with adults and young people. I am a registered member of BACP and follow the code of ethics and good practice. I can help with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, anger, trauma, depression, life changes, bereavement/grief.
All of my work is supervised on a monthly basis, as required by BACP, by a qualified professional.
I attend regular CPD in order to keep my skill set current and to broaden my knowledge.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified in Integrative counselling and have been working in private practice for 4 years. As one size does not fit all, this allows us to combine different theories, models and approaches in our work to find the best way for you to move forward in your life.

I have completed a certificate in online and telephone counselling to be able to confidently adapt my practice to these mediums if they are preferred.

Qualifications
Level 4 Diploma in therapeutic counselling
Level 5 certificate in counselling children and young people
Level 3 certificate in Cruse Bereavement Care
I currently work alongside Crossroads Care Kent to deliver counselling to their clients to support them in their caring role.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
