About me

Hello there, my name is Tena and I am a BACP registered counsellor based in South Wales. Thank you for clicking on my profile. No matter what your struggles are, the fact that you are on Counselling Directory is already an important first step towards help and healing. If you want to know more about therapy and if it might be useful to you, please read on. Also, I welcome additional questions, so please feel free to get in touch. My contact details are listed on the top of the page.

I offer both in-person ('walk and talk') and remote (online and telephone) counselling. 'Walk and Talk' currently offered in Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly and Roath Park in Cardiff, but open to agreement.

I am originally from Croatia and I came to the United Kingdom in 2014. My lived experience of growing up in post-war Croatia inspired me to seek a career in which I would be helping other people. As a therapist I aim to create a safe and trusting environment for my clients so we can journey to the core of their struggles together. This is done with the great hope that we can find a way to help them discover something new about themselves, to heal and to maintain wellbeing in their lives.

My integrative approach to therapy combines elements of psychodynamics (with a focus on the past), cognitive behavioural therapy (with a focus on goal setting and the future) and humanistic therapy (which puts the client at the heart of the process). The core values of my practice are honesty, compassion and authenticity. I approach every client in a warm and non-judgmental way.

First Steps

Taking a first step to help yourself when already struggling is hard, so please pat yourself on the back as you have already made your way to Counselling Directory. If you think therapy might be something that is worth trying, you can contact me through email, visit my website or ring/text my mobile (all details found at the very top of the page under my photo). You can ask whatever question you might have about therapy, the process or myself as therapist.

I have been practicing as a counsellor in the volunteer sector since 2020 (Caerphilly Borough MIND and Cwm Taf Morgannwg MIND) and in private practice since 2023.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
