About me
I am a qualified integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, registered with the BACP.
I specialist in stress related issues and work with you to change the things that are important to you using different therapy elements that suit your requirements, giving you time out to address your needs confidentially.
I use integrative counselling as well as solution focused and cognitive approaches. I feel it is important that the sessions work to help you to move forward at your pace.
Life events interfere with the way we feel and are often responsible for a build up of stress. When our bodies are stressed we find that normal everyday life becomes a struggle. Using psychotherapy I provide help and support to overcome the challenges faced during those periods of time especially, for example - during times of extreme anxiety, bereavement, new jobs or career changes, childbirth, menopause, relationship problems.
I also specialise in supporting young people and helping them learn new ways to cope with their concerns, especially if they are self harming / experienced bullying / have low self esteem.
Counselling gives you time for yourself, there are times in everyone's life when moving forward seems really difficult, addressing the things that are in the way really works.
Different counsellors use different approaches and I wait until I have met you, chatted and identified what you need from counselling before we decide your goals and how to achieve these using your sessions.
Deep focused relaxation and hypnotherapy techniques can help support the counselling and are particularity useful if your stress results in anxiety or panic attacks.
I am always mindful of how useful a multi-professional approach can be, especially for young people, and, if appropriate, I will assist with referrals via your GP.
