About me
Deciding to see a counsellor can be daunting. I offer 1:1 supportive sessions where you can explore what's troubling you at your own pace and without fear of judgement. Issues can include low confidence or self-esteem, family or relationship difficulties, including betrayals or perhaps ongoing anxiety or a low mood. Perhaps things are difficult in your work environment. I have particular experience in grief and loss counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and adhere to their Ethical Framework.

Training, qualifications & experience
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB)
My core training is in person-centred counselling, a humanistic approach. Where I feel it might be helpful to you, I draw on other approaches. I have particular experience in short-term, focussed work. I have extensive experience in the field of bereavement and loss, having worked with CRUSE for a number of years. I am also an approved Anxiety UK therapist and work with Health Assured and can support you with employment-related issues..
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

The first free introductory session is so we can get to know each other a little before you choose whether you want to book further weekly sessions with me. I think this works best if we can keep to the same day and time each week, so we develop a bit of a rhythm.
I work in a non-directive way; I won't issue you with instructions or impose any opinions on you. I am here to listen and support you in your explorations, not to judge.
