About me

Following a global pandemic, and in the midst of a major economic downturn, our mental health may well have been tested, perhaps greatly in some cases. I personally feel it's important that we address not only the psychological effects of the times we are living through but also any of those things that might trouble us regardless, or that did so prior to their onset; excessive budgeting and new ways of living and working have brought their own trials and tribulations but within this period, many prior troubling thoughts, feelings and circumstances have also perhaps been triggered.

I cannot promise to "cure" you (if that were even possible), bit I do promise to sit alongside you, as together, we work to tap into your own innate ability to help yourself.

A Counselling Trinity

1/Maybe you just need to offload what’s weighing you down. You just need an independent 'someone' to listen.

2/Maybe you want to know why you feel a certain way, why certain things are happening to, or around, you.

3/Maybe you just want change. You don’t want to feel or live like this anymore.

You may well require all of the above (whether in that sequence or not) but counselling for you may just consist of only one or the other of these facets.

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Life-Coach who works in a "Person-Centred" way.  "Integrative", in a counselling context, means that I combine elements and techniques from the major schools of counselling (inc. CBT). My therapy is informal, conversational & collaborative. You drive it.... so Whatever works for you works for me.

------------------------------------------------

A combined approach can be useful when coping with powerful emotions like panic, fear, worry, shame, anger, self-doubt, guilt, hate, confusion, consternation, disgust, shock, sadness etc.

Please see the checklist near the bottom of this page for a full list of areas I cover. However, I also work with:

Emotional turmoil or distress including depression and anxiety-related phenomena, stress and 'overwhelm', trauma, life-changes, isolation & loneliness, disappointment, disillusionment, perceived 'failure', injustice, insecurity, rejection, intrusive or negative thoughts, self-defeating-habits, low-self-esteem and poor self-image.

If appropriate, I'll also work with you on self-awareness and development, performance-coaching, 'emotional intelligence', assertiveness and resilience, inter-personal communications skills, anger-manmagement, basic mindfulness and relaxation techniques, personal and professional goals, life-skills, or spirituality.

What to do next

Get in touch via email or phone, details as provided elsewhere. I will attempt to return messages within 48 hours. If you're interested in moving ahead with me, whether by phone, internet or in-person, we'll arrange for a more in-depth consultation where we will explore your situation further - and my methods - to determine if and how we will work together from thereon.

On-street parking is available at my easy-to-find residential premises in a quiet cul-de-sac in Sherwood. Buses, shops and cafe's are within a few minutes walk. I may also work from rented offices in therapeutic centres (and the like) locally. Other venues nearer to you & home visits (within a 5-mile radius of Sherwood may be available on request. Home visits are perhaps most suited to those with disabilities (my premises feature a steep drive and stairs up to the counselling room) but also for those who would prefer familiar surroundings for their sessions.

Please call for details.
