About me

Hello and welcome to my page, my name is Stephanie Woodland. I am a qualified, professional Psychotherapist with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and a registered member of the BACP, specialising in helping you improve your relationships.

Are you struggling with a relationship in your life? This could be the relationship with a parent, partner, child, friend, family member, coworker, or even yourself!

Is it stopping you from getting a good night's sleep or concentrating at work?

Are you tired of having the same arguments over and over again?

Have you stopped telling your friends and family about your troubles for fear of judgement?

Relationship difficulties and conflicts are a natural part of life, but they can take a real toll on our wellbeing and quality of life.

We can sometimes disagree, argue and end up finding the relationships we once found so easy, have actually become quite difficult.

But the good news is that it doesn't have to stay this way.

I’ll work with you to explore your relationships and find a way to reconnect and rebuild so you can get back to living the life that you want.

I can offer a warm, safe environment to help explore your problems without passing judgement, and sometimes with a little bit of (appropriate) humour.

No one is more of an expert on your life than you and I want to understand and work through your problems with you. I value your experiences and what you bring to our sessions.

We will work together in order to build your confidence, independence, and resilience to help you find the words and ways to form more meaningful relationships.

I have always been a part of a multidisciplinary team and therefore use methods and strategies from a variety of approaches, all depending on with whom I'm working. This integrative approach allows me to tailor each session to your specific needs and experiences. It is important to me to ensure you are getting the most appropriate support that works for you. I may use techniques from various counselling models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Brief Solution Focused, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Person-Centred, as well as other methods.

If you're going through a difficult time in your relationship, please get in touch.

*Please note that I do not return phone calls for confidentiality reasons. So either call back, text, or send me an email.*

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I also offer walk and talk sessions for individual clients that prefer nature’s healing touch to aid our work together.

Walk and talk sessions are a creative alternative to traditional counselling. Instead of having sessions inside my office, the session will take place outdoors in and around Chichester Canal or Dell Quay. Nature can be incredibly healing/relaxing and this can aid in the therapeutic process. Walk and Talk counselling offers a different approach where you can breathe, move and talk through whatever you're struggling with.
