About me

I'm Sian, a qualified counsellor based near Tadcaster and Sherburn in Elmet.

Whatever your reason for seeking support, counselling can offer you the space and time to work through your feelings at your own pace and without the fear of judgement.

Together we can look at the difficulties you are facing, past or present, and untangle feelings which can sometimes be overwhelming when trying to cope with them on your own.

Anger, anxiety or depression for example, can have a big impact on your daily life. Sometimes our friends and family can support us, but it can also be hard to open up to those closet to us. In these times the support of a professional can be helpful. I am always touched to see the impact that counselling sessions have on clients. For some people it is the first time they experience someone truly listening to them.

The counselling process is different for everyone and so I can work with you either short term or long term. I am qualified to work with you on a wide range of issues and I offer in person appointments to adults and young people over the age of 16. I have lots of experience working with young adults in particular and besides private practice I also work at a sixth from/university centre counselling clients struggling with their mental health and emotions.

To give you a sense of what it is like to work with me I offer a free introductory telephone consultation.  I welcome you to get in touch via email or telephone to book, or visit my website linked above for more information.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
