About me

Hi, I'm Sharon, I am warm and caring and offer a convenient and safe place to reflect and explore as well as a place to grow and learn. I use an integrative (directive & non-directive) approach to therapy, including Attachment Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Psychodynamic Therapy. Additionally, I incorporate creative techniques such as working with the Inner Child to address the parts of ourselves we may struggle with, helping manage overwhelming emotions and thoughts.

I am a strong advocate for self-efficacy and believe that no one knows us better than we know ourselves and with some help from time to time we all need a little direction towards the sun to help our sunflower flourish. Whether you are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or simply looking to gain deeper self-awareness and you feel that this is your time for change then take the first step and get in touch with me and let’s start the journey together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychodynamic Therapy, with a vast range of additional CPD training that has kept me abreast of the latest information in the field of counselling & therapy. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have 23 years experience working with mental health within the UK and South Africa. My working career includes supporting women fleeing domestic abuse, young people leaving care and at risk of homelessness, addiction work, ethnic minority groups and managing a peer led mental health project in partnership with NHS and third sector.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
