About me

Hello, my name is Sarah and welcome to my profile page.

I am a qualified, professional counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults affected by depression, anxiety, OCD, stress, low self-esteem, relationship issues, long term health conditions, substance misuse, cancer and bereavement.

Do you feel overwhelmed and burdened by life's experiences, both past and present. Are you unable to handle situations you were once able to manage. Perhaps you a feeling unhappy and confused about your feelings and future. Anxious, stressed, depressed?

I know that contemplating counselling can be a daunting and unsettling experience. Whether you have had previous experience of counselling or not, taking the first step to seek both help and support can feel embarrassing. I value my clients as individuals, with unique personal experiences and challenges, so why not contact me on 07876 543 764 or email me for an informal chat about how I may be able to help you?

I genuinely feel committed and passionate about supporting my clients and, where possible, in seeking to achieve the best possible outcomes for their futures. Research has proved it is the relationship between client and therapist which is fundamental for a successful outcome. It is therefore imperative that you find the right therapist for you.

Accessing therapy provides the opportunity to look at important issues within your life. I can provide you with a safe, caring and non-judgemental space to explore your 'world view' and how that impacts on your relationships, your decision making and your sense of well-being.

Each therapeutic encounter is unique and my practice is based upon an integrative approach, whereby I combine a variety of counselling therapies and use them to meet your needs and situation.

Life isn't easy and we never know what challenges and obstacles we might be faced with. You might find it helpful to talk through your problems in an environment of safety and respect.

I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period and see them at a regular time each week.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). In addition to my private practice, I currently work in conjunction with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, treating clients suffering from anxiety and depression through the IAPTS (Improving access to psychological therapies) programme.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • CPCAB Level Four Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • CPCAB Level Two Award in Understanding Substance Misuse
  • I have experience working with clients through the NHS within primary care.
  • I have over two years experience working as a counsellor with St Christopher's Hospice.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which is a professional association for members of the counselling professions. As a member I am committed to working in accordance with the BACPs ethical framework, which ensures that at all times I am working in your best interest. I adhere to their strict code of ethics and I have regular supervision. I attend relevant workshops, seminars and conferences as part of my continuing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
