About me

Trusting another person with your struggles and personal distress is a brave but difficult first step to healing. I understand that, and work hard to provide a therapeutic environment which honours this decision, moving at a pace you feel comfortable with.

Person centred counselling operates from the belief that every person can become more fully functioning when given the necessary conditions of non-judgement, empathy and authenticity, which as your counsellor I will offer during our work together. I believe that the therapeutic relationship should be rooted in equality and mutuality, and so I will sit alongside you, working with you to help make sense of difficult experiences and emotional struggles.

I offer both short and long term therapy, recognising the uniqueness of each individuals therapeutic goals. This is something we can decide – and review – as we work together.

I have been counselling online for a number of years, and have discovered that this way of working offers a number of benefits to clients. Many have found it not only more convenient and flexible, but also welcomed the opportunity to meet with a therapist in the safety and comfort of a place familiar to them. I feel strongly that online working is not ‘less than’,  and provides a unique and accessible therapeutic experience.

I hold the following professional membership, which has ethical guidelines and principles that I adhere to in my practice:

  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)

If you would like to book a free 15 minute video call to assess if we can work together, please email me with a sentence or two about what you brings you to counselling and your availability for sessions, and I will aim to get back to you within 24 hours.

I work with adults and children 14+.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
