About me

I am a fully qualified Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy). Being integrative means I have been trained in a number of therapeutic modalities and techniques which I tailor to meet the individual needs of my clients.

I work with issues regarding all aspects of relationships, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, unhealthy coping mechanisms and any of life’s issues, past and present that may be preventing you from living a happy and fulfilled life.

I know this can be a hard decision to make. The journey to untangling the complexities of life requires a courageous first step and talking therapy can help make sense of those complexities. I offer a supportive, confidential, safe space for you to express your innermost thoughts, feelings and emotions about how life affects you, without fear of judgement or offending those closest to you.

Together we can explore patterns of behaviour that may be having a destructive impact on your life, look at events from the past that you feel are holding you back or you may want to concentrate on what is going on for you now.

My approach to working with clients is holistic, taking into account the mind and the body. My overarching modality is Person-Centred which means we take things at your pace and you are in control of what you would like to talk about during our session. Trust and the therapeutic relationship are key to successful therapy, one in which we can work collectively to explore your sense of self and empower you to gain the tools and awareness you need to make positive changes.

I practice both in-person and online. If you prefer online counselling please ensure you have a safe and confidential space which you can use for our sessions. In person sessions will be based at my practice in Fremington, just a few miles from Barnstaple. I offer both long term and short term counselling and each session lasts for one hour. The length of the therapeutic journey will be different for each client and the number of sessions and the frequency is tailored to fit the needs of the individual.

It's ok not to be ok, help is available and you do not have to be alone. Let me guide you through this difficult time and walk with you on your journey. I’ve seen many clients reach their desired, positive outcomes, allowing them to move forward with their lives with confidence with the knowledge gained from the tools and techniques they receive through therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
