About me

I work with clients using an online platform and I am currently only taking on clients aged 16+

My name is Robyn Spice and I am a qualified psychotherapist.

Using a cognitive behavioural framework I specialise in the treatment of anxiety disorders, low mood, trauma, issues facing the LGBTQ+ community and stress.

I have worked as a counsellor within schools over the past two years, as well as worked as an adult counsellor using online platforms, the phone and face-to-face appointments.

I am an LGBTQIA+ inclusive therapist. I have worked closely with teenagers and adults who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community in their journey to discover their authentic selves.

I have worked with adults, teenagers and children and have experience in a number of different areas including depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders and grief. It is my job to work with you to explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours to help you understand the difficulties you’ve been facing. We will use different tools and techniques that you can utilise to help you achieve your goals and make lasting changes to your daily life.

All sessions will take place using an online platform or telephone. Since the beginning of the pandemic, this has been an excellent way to make sure individuals receive the support they are looking for.  If you have any questions regarding this please feel free to email me.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Stirling and a Master of Philosophy degree in Body Image and Gender Identity from the University of Stirling. I have a SCOTACS Diploma in CBT Counselling and Groupwork from The Centre of Therapy and Counselling Studies in Glasgow, and I am a fully qualified cognitive behavioural therapist.

I am currently undertaking a certificate in Psychosexual Therapy at the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology. My clinical education has included focused studies in gender and body image, CBT theory, group therapy, the impact of trauma on the LGBTQ+ community and trauma response. As an MBACP Accredited therapist, I am required to participate in ongoing continued education and personal development which help to develop my ability to practice in a way that is aligned with the latest research in the field.

Getting Started with Therapy

Knowing how to get started with therapy can be really daunting. For more information about sessions then please feel free to email me at robyn.c.spice@gmail.com

I can then send you a little more information regarding therapy or arrange a call to discuss what you would like to get out of therapy, how the process works and any questions you have.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
