About me

Hi, I'm Paul, and as a therapist my outlook is centred on the belief that change is possible, and that you have the ability to create a more fulfilling life for yourself. While the process may require effort and patience, I am committed to supporting and guiding you every step of the way.

Whether we're working together face-to-face or online, my goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable exploring your thoughts and feelings. Together, we'll identify your goals, develop new strategies and coping skills, and help you build the resilience you need to navigate life's challenges.

I take pride in providing a supportive and safe space for my clients, while also offering direct feedback and challenging unhelpful thoughts or beliefs. I believe that exploring your past and present relationships is key to making progress and achieving breakthroughs. In addition to providing tools and strategies, I may also recommend helpful books to support your growth.

I am a modern practitioner, my practice is founded on professionalism and up-to-date techniques and ideas. I have a conversation with my clients, I'm not a blank screen and we don’t sit in silence. Counselling sessions won’t involve you lying on a couch looking at ink blots! I engage in a natural, relational way. I’m not a tea and sympathy therapist, I’m a challenging therapist, meaning that I facilitate change and believe that good quality therapy is transformative and goal orientated.

Counselling sessions take place in a modern and neutral environment which reflects my way of working, straightforward, contemporary and relaxed.

I understand that finding the right therapist is essential, and that's why I offer a free, no obligation 20-minute consultation. This gives you an opportunity to determine if I'm the right fit for you and if we could work well together. So if you're ready to take the first step towards a better life, please don't hesitate to reach out.

If you're ready to make a change, let's work together to make it happen.

Training, qualifications & experience

Throughout my career as a counsellor, I have gained valuable experience working with clients in various settings. In Colchester, I provided counselling services to clients at a local counselling service, as well as at a GP surgery in North Essex. Additionally, working for a national charity, I facilitated bereavement support groups for clients suffering from grief and loss.

Currently, I see clients in my private practice and draw on my diverse experiences to provide tailored support to each individual.

I have a Level 4 Diploma in Person-Centred Integrative Counselling.

I have a Batchelor's Degree in Psychology and Criminology

I am currently studying an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice to further enable me to offer the very best of service to my clients.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
