About me

Hi, I am Dr Nicola Wright, a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years experience of working in the NHS. I specialise in working with clients where their difficulties relate to the perinatal period. This could be from difficulties conceiving, pregnancy, loss and the postnatal period.  My goal is to provide you with a secure and confidential space, where you will feel listened to, understood, empowered and supported at every stage of your perinatal journey.

I understand that taking the first step in seeking support can feel confusing and overwhelming. Let me guide you through the unique challenges that may arise during the perinatal period. I can help you at any stage of your journey, from fertility challenges, perinatal loss, conception, pregnancy, the postnatal period and beyond.

Whilst the perinatal period can be filled with joy, it may also bring moments of anxiety, distress, ambivalence, and fear. Identifying and expressing these challenges can be daunting. I am dedicated to helping you process and understand your experiences so that you can feel more in control and less overwhelmed, empowering you to live the life you want to live.

Further information

I will be guided by what your goals for therapy are and what you hope to get out of meeting with me.

Our initial sessions are typically our assessment appointments, where we consider the emotional challenges that you are experiencing, your perinatal journey so far and any relevant historical information.

From these appointments I am then able to make sense of your current difficulties, enabling you to gain a greater understanding of how your previous experiences, current thoughts, feelings and behaviours may be linked.

As a Clinical Psychologists, I can integrate different types of therapies to best meet your needs and goals.
