About me

Counselling can help when we feel stuck, lost and overwhelmed and can’t find a way to make sense of those difficult feelings on our own. I provide one-to-one counselling to both adults and young people who may be struggling with all sorts of issues. I am also a Relate-trained therapist working with couples of all ages and stages of life.

Teenagers  - this time of life brings so many challenges: academic stress, friendship issues and peer pressure, self esteem and body image... speaking to someone who isn’t a friend or family member can help you to see a problem from a different perspective, without judgement or bias. We can find the tools to strengthen your resilience and confidence.

Adults - I work with people who bring issues of stress, anxiety, sadness, anger and loss. I will provide a safe, confidential space and work with you to help you make sense of what’s going on in your life. We can unravel experiences and relationships from the past that have impacted you and help you untap resources within yourself to enable you to move forward.

Couples - if you are experiencing difficulties in your relationship or wider family, I can support you to look at fresh ways to improve communication and manage conflict.

Therapy should be tailored to the specific needs of each person - as an integrative counsellor I draw on different skills and approaches which best suit each of my clients, and I offer both long or short term work. An initial meeting can help us establish how best we could work together. If this is your first experience of counselling you may be feeling apprehensive: feel free to contact me with any questions, whether or not I am the right counsellor for you I can help you to understand how therapy works and what you can expect.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
