About me

Introduction

We all need some support in life, and you are 100% entitled to that. I am Natalie, a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working and living in Hexham. I offer telephone and video counselling which allows me to offer therapy to anyone in the UK.  I understand that life can be busy and often getting to a face-to-face appointment is sometimes difficult to arrange, so providing flexibility and understanding is core to the support I provide.

I very much empathise and understand that seeking counselling can be a scary and difficult thing to do. However I work in a person centred way, tailored to each individual and will help to support and guide you through your journey. Accepting that you need some support, shows courage and bravery so you are already on your path to recovery.

In my therapy, we will work on exercises to help reduce your anxiety and give you helpful coping strategies. We will discuss mindful approaches which you will be encouraged to take part in outside of therapy.

Session are 50 minutes long and cost £50 per session.

I provide short term and long term therapy.

Counselling style

I provide a holistic approach using person centred therapy, mindfulness, and CBT. This combined approach helps to reduce anxiety, stress, and depression. We use different mindful techniques to help give you a calming coping mechanism for the issues you are dealing with.

What to expect in your first counselling session

In our first session, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to achieve and any goals you would like to work towards. I will tell you a bit more about how I practice and go through the therapy contract together.

It is important that you feel comfortable and feel that you can trust me, we will talk through any nerves you have. We will also decide if you feel you can work with me.

Free Consultation

I offer a free 20 minute  consultation for you to find out if you would like support through myself. There is no obligation from this consultation, I will find out a little bit about your issues, and what has brought you to therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Sleep Issues

Sleep is impacted by every stress in life, I provide support in helping develop a sleep routine and pattern. Self care activities is an important part of this and creating a comfortable sleep environment

Workplace wellbeing

I often say we spend more time at work than we do with our own friends or family. Its important that we feel understood, appreciated and valued. Often we may work too much and can feel our stress levels rising and start to struggle with concentration or motivation. This is often a sign of burnout, I specialise in all workplace issues such as; work place stress, burnout, bullying.
