About me

Hello I am Natalie and welcome to my page, I am a Psychotherapist providing video and telephone counselling to adults.

I will help you navigate through workplace issues while learning to live and adapt to life with a chronic illness so that you can be the best version of yourself.  You will be supported by a therapist, whom has lived experience of all of these issues and wants to support others through their journey.

I live with ME/CFS, Diabetes and Kidney disease and was first diagnosed at the age of 13. I have limited mobility, and experience alot of fatigue and weakness. I understand that feeling of having no energy, needing to go back to bed during the day, experiencing workplace bullying due to pain and limitations. Being called lazy and lack of understanding  in why you need to use the lift instead of the stairs.

Does any of this sound familiar to you?

Are you tired of people thinking that you are fine because you don't have a visible illness? Do family members not understand how difficult just doing some cleaning is? Are your work colleagues or boss making comments about your absences or how you need to sit down all the time and take a break?

Is this you?

I know exactly what this feels like, but I am here to tell you things can change. I run my own business, and lead a counselling service for a charity in Northumberland. I know my worth, I am proud of what I have achieved but I still take care of my illnesses. This can be you too, to live the life you want to the fullest and reach a state of acceptance regarding your chronic illness. This can all be possible if you engage in therapy with me.

Benefits

  • You will develop coping mechanisms after just a few sessions
  • You will feel validated and heard
  • I will believe everything you tell me about your illness
  • You will have a safe space to discuss your illness and any work issues you are experiencing

What will the counselling look like?

I provide a holistic approach using person centred therapy, mindfulness, and CBT.  I use different mindful techniques to help give you a calming coping mechanism for the issues you are dealing with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

l work on exercises to help reduce your anxiety and give you helpful coping strategies. We will practice mindfulness, and I will show you how deep breathing can help your body and your mind to become calmer.

I have always been passionate about understanding each individual’s issues and problems. I use my expertise in counselling and psychotherapy to provide a holistic, non-judgemental, caring space for you to voice what you are going through. I believe that feeling able to open to someone and trust them is such an important part of counselling. I will carry out an assessment to make sure I am the best person for you.
