About me

I work with people in their 20s and 30s, who's low self esteem prevents them from fully participating in their life and keeps them trapped in a cycle of perfectionism, disconnection and not feeling good enough.

I am a fully qualified therapist with 8 years of experience working with clients with a variety of mental health challenges. I am very passionate about the work I do helping millennials transform their relationship with themselves and this has been my focus over the last 4 years.

My private practice is entirely run online and I see 1-1 clients via Zoom or through email. Please visit my website to find out more about these services or to book a free consultation.

Do you always struggle with feeling as though you are not enough?
Stuck & trapped, feeling lost & overwhelmed?

Maybe you struggle to understand who you are and believe that you cannot trust yourself or make decisions?

Maybe you spend a lot of time inside your own head criticising every thing about yourself and berating yourself for being behind in life, easily getting sucked in to comparison with others. Those all around you seem to be succeeding in life and you feel as though you're trapped, unable to move forwards and deeply unhappy because of it.

Maybe you try to change who you are to fit in with the crowd? But that doesn't work either and leaves you feeling even more miserable and insecure.

You feel as though there are so many life milestones that you have not achieved or are not ready for and this leaves you feeling like a failure, the comparison with your peers is strong and feeds your feelings of inadequacy.

You don't have to experience all this alone. I am a warm & compassionate therapist and I understand what you're going through. I will help you to understand how your experiences have shaped who you are and will support you in learning how to accept and validate yourself, so that you no longer have to rely on earning others approval or on your success & achievements to feel good.

We may be a good fit if you experience:

  • never feeling good enough despite your achievements & success
  • feeling emotionally overwhelmed
  • feeling reactive and confused by the intensity of your feelings
  • feel insecure in relationships and struggle to express your needs
  • obsessive comparison with others & high social media use
  • a loud critical inner voice
  • holding yourself to extremely high standards
  • putting pressure on yourself to be perfect
  • putting the needs of others first and not considering yourself
  • have/had critical parents
  • lack of boundaries with others or work, leading to exhaustion & burnout
  • feeling isolated, lacking true connection and feeling misunderstood
  • feel lost & anxious about the future

What's therapy with me like?

My aim is to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, to develop a kinder and more compassionate relationship with yourself and through this learn to take action that gets you unstuck. My approach is warm yet challenging, I will offer insights and perspectives that nudge you into thinking about things in a different way as this is important for growth and change.

For good therapy outcomes it is essential that you choose to work with a therapist that you feel comfortable and safe with. This allows us to develop a secure relationship, helping you to experience and practice different ways of relating which can then be transferred into your life and help you develop healthier relationships with others.

For this reason I offer all potential clients a free 20 minute consultation via Zoom to find out what I'm like and ask me any questions you have.
Please email meryn@timetobloomtherapy.com to schedule your call.

My Approach

The way I work is integrative, which means I blend many psychological theories together in a unique way for each client. My core approach is person centred and relational but I integrate aspects of humanistic, existential, psychodynamic and narrative therapy as and when they are needed in the process.

If this sounds confusing then don't worry! You don't need to understand how all these approaches work together (that's my job) but please feel free to ask me questions about how I work if you would like more information.

Colleagues have described my style of relating as warm, compassionate and gently challenging. I believe you are the expert on you and will never tell you what to do however I will offer my insights and reflections to help you identify blind spots, shift your perspective and learn to take action that leads to change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
