About me

Facilitator of change/Counsellor & Indian Head Massage Therapist

I am a humanistic and integrative counsellor and my aim is to work empathically and congruently throughout your journey, as a whole interconnected person. I see counselling as a process of engagement between two people, who collaborate and work together to solve difficult problems.

I can offer short/brief solution focussed therapy or long term therapeutic support.  I work confidentially and offer an ethical, safe space, with a non-judgemental approach. The reflective relationship will help you develop your own awareness and insights to facilitate change. You could use the space to just allow you to be you, as you explore your thoughts, emotions, feelings and concerns or work toward your specific goals.

Qualifying as a Indian Head Massage Therapist in April of last year, I have been able to combine Holistic Therapy with Talking Therapy. Enabling my clients to have the option of the combined experience of been listened to with a little bit of relaxation to boot.

I have experience working with individual, adult clients and have worked with young people for the last 19 years, from a variety of backgrounds.

Supervision

I offer individual supervision to trained counsellors and to Trainee Counsellors.  Using the Seven-eyed supervision model Hawkins & Shohet. My aim is to provide a client-focused collaborative and collegial relationship, where Supervisees feel supported to meet all aspects of their work with clients. I feel Supervision is a place where we can share good practice, creatively and theory based knowledge to enrich our experience with our clients.

One of the most valuable things we can do to heal one another is to listen to each other's stories. (Rebecca Falls)

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Thirteen years ago I began my journey into the counselling profession. My journey began when taking on a new role within a school as a Youth Worker. It was within this new role I began to shine and grow in confidence. My new found confidence and having a better sense of who I was helped me to help others.

Realising I had the ability to help those around me to make informed choices, thus enabling them to move forward within their difficult times. I soon realised I had a capacity to listen, be empathetic to difficult situations and give unconditional positive regard to those young people, families and adults. I also feel my own difficulties growing up helped to mould me into the person I have become today.

I decided to embrace my new found confidence and love for helping others and began my new journey into becoming a counsellor. It was a difficult journey as I learned a lot about myself and others around me, but the journey was one I would trek again and again. I have, for many years, worked with young people and adolescents therapeutically, both in a School setting and in private practice. Working with clients to enable them to live a more fulfilled life is both rewarding and challenging, but what a gift it is for me share the journey with you.

I am happily married and have two wonderful children and very recently became a grandparent this in itself has been a valuable journey, still challenges me today and everyday.
