About me

Hello, my name is Maria and I'm a qualified Counsellor and Somatic Trauma Therapist.  I know how Facing our issues may be challenging; it often takes courage, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. I can’t fix things for you, but I can work with you to build a solid therapeutic relationship, upon which we can explore and address the problems that have bought you to counselling.

I work in-person from a dedicated therapy centre in Maidstone, the rooms are accessible for everyone, and we will meet in the same room each week. When you arrive at the centre, there will be someone at reception to greet you and a reception area to wait in. I also offer online counselling.

If you decide to make contact with me, I will offer you a free 15 minute telephone consultation at a time that's convenient for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My core modalities are Person-Centred counselling and Somatic Trauma Therapy, I also have training in psychodynamic theory and play therapy. I’m trained in Breath Work and the Emotional Freedom Technique, which are great for calming anxiety and internal stabilisation. I’m trained in techniques for processing traumatic events, so we can look at traumatic or triggering events therapeutically in the most appropriate way for you.

I have bespoke training for working with Trauma and abuse (physical, emotional and sexual). Alongside this, I have experience of the many challenges this can bring to a persons life and wellbeing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership
