About me

Seeking help is an act of courage and you may feel some natural anxiety about it, but sometimes talking to family or friends isn’t enough or even possible. I could provide the professional help that you need to find a way forward.

I provide one to one support, online nationally and in person in St Albans, in a quiet and relaxed environment (with parking) a short walk from the station.

My broad experience in applied psychology, counselling and coaching enables me to be flexible and combine different approaches to meet your needs. No problem is the same, so I take care to learn about you and to establish how we can work together. This could involve meeting for a short time (6-12 sessions) on a specific issue or working over a longer period to support self-exploration, uncover unhelpful patterns and build psychological flexibility and greater confidence in your ability to direct your future. We regularly review how things are going so that you are in control of your therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 30 years experience in applied psychology, supporting individuals to navigate change in their work and personal lives.

My background includes a variety of therapeutic and corporate environments. I provided therapy for offenders as a prison psychologist and worked as an organisational psychologist in both the private and public sector, specialising in executive development and coaching.

I am experienced in a number of approaches to learning and change and am an accredited coach. I also trained as an integrative, transpersonal counsellor and have worked at a hospice as a bereavement counsellor and in a low-cost clinic supporting clients with depression, anxiety and addiction amongst other issues.

I enjoy using my experience as a counsellor, coach and applied psychologist to provide people with practical, person-centred, flexible support that makes them feel safe and facilitates their development and growth.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
