About me
I'm Liam Zamudio, a counsellor and hypnotherapist offering counselling to adults (18+) in Cardiff and online across the UK. Much of my work is with trauma and its after-effects, anxiety and overthinking, and low self-worth. I also work a great deal with addiction and substance use, and with relationship difficulties, alongside stress, low mood, anger, boundaries and emotional regulation. My approach is pluralistic with a person-centred foundation: we work out together what helps you, drawing on approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, Gestalt and solution-focused work. I see clients face to face in Cardiff (CF14), on walk-and-talk sessions, or online. I'm an NCPS Accredited Registrant, and the first step is a free, no-pressure phone consultation.
You might be managing work and home life while privately feeling exhausted, anxious, angry, disconnected or overwhelmed. Perhaps your mind won't switch off. Maybe drinking, drugs or another habit has started to take more than it gives, your relationships keep hitting the same problems, or something from your past keeps affecting the present. You don't need a neatly organised story to come to counselling; we can start with whatever you're able to bring.
Because I'm pluralistically trained, I work with a wide range of difficulties, from everyday stress to more complex and long-standing struggles, including trauma, addiction and patterns in relationships. Some sessions may involve making sense of experiences you've rarely spoken about; others may focus on practical ways to respond differently to something troubling you now. I also offer hypnotherapy where it's appropriate and agreed with you. My NCPS registration covers my counselling work; hypnotherapy is offered separately.
I aim to be warm, straightforward and thoughtful. There is room for uncertainty, silence and humour, and you won't be expected to disclose everything before you feel ready. We'll regularly check how the work feels and whether it is helping.
I welcome adults of all genders, backgrounds and identities. Sessions are available face to face in Cardiff (CF14), as walk-and-talk sessions outdoors, or online, with evening and weekend appointments. Limited concession places are available; please ask.
I also work with organisations and workplaces, offering talks, workshops and mental health initiatives. Here, too, my starting point is to understand what people are actually dealing with, and what support could make a difference in their working day.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a pluralistic counsellor with a person-centred foundation, trained to draw on a range of approaches including CBT, ACT, DBT, Gestalt and solution-focused work, alongside clinical hypnotherapy. I'm an Accredited Registrant of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and work under regular clinical supervision.
My background includes almost 15 years as a criminal justice professional, working with people affected by trauma, addiction and complex mental health difficulties.
I'm committed to ongoing professional development and am currently studying for a Level 6 diploma, reading and researching new approaches to keep improving my practice.

In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
