About me

Find your life when you explore it and discover your own internal stability.

I am a Relational Integrative Counsellor and a registered accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP Accred.). I am passionate about the work I do and I have an M.A. in my theoretical approach which integrates ideas shared in Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (C.B.T).

The focus of this form of therapy links your past experiences, your present situation and how this may impact on your future, as well as linking your personal meaning to generate insight into your situation. As such, at every stage my aim is that we work together to influence a personal future that is useful and helpful to you. I believe that your experiences and perceptions are unique and significant. Therefore, I work from a position where I guard against making assumptions about you or your issues by remaining curious and attentive, while always checking your meaning rather than imposing mine. In the neutral space I provide, all that you express is valued and respected.

I offer both brief and long term therapy, but at a pace that is most helpful to you; you are always in control (Please note, change can be challenging, and often brings sadness and confusion before perceived benefits are experienced).

Equally, I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychological Therapies for Children, Young People and Families (Children and Young People, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CYP-IAPT-CBT), and I am an accredited member with the BABCP in this area of work. As such, I can provide specific evidence-based interventions for young people and their families experiencing difficulties with anxiety and depression.

I am also a qualified IAPT CBT Supervisor (High and Low Intensity CBT) and can work with practitioners who desire to sustain the IAPT protocol and principles. In addition, I can work with practitioners who would like support with an Integrative approach to counselling or with CBT therapeutic interventions.

Currently I work out off Monmouth in Wales and Newent in Gloucestershire.

For more about me and my profile, please visit me on LinkedIn. You can then call me to arrange a confidential initial meeting. You would be charged for the first session, but you are not then obligated to commit to future sessions, unless you wish to do so. In our initial meeting we shall discuss your situation and you can also discern if I am the best person to work with you. It is very important for you to test out if you can work with me. We cannot ignore the fact that a good working alliance is crucial to what we can achieve together.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.
