About me

Hello, pleased to meet you. I am a qualified health psychologist, which means I am trained to doctoral level to work with health conditions that are impacting on our mental well-being. We recognise that our mental and physical health are linked and impact on each other. Living with long-term, incurable or acute physical health problems can be distressing, life-altering, and need adjustments. All of which can cause our mental health to deteriorate. This is where I can help.

I have experience of working with chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, Chronic illness, diabetes, obesity, chronic pain, IBS, sleep difficulties and insomnia, anxiety and cancer. I also work with people who are LGBTQ+ and struggling to find their identity or need a safe space to talk through their experiences.

My Values

My core values are honesty, kindness, fairness and curiosity. I strive to understand those that I work with and their experiences, build authentic and caring relationships with them and recognise the struggles they may face, including difficult experiences that they may have faced on their healthcare journey.

The models I work with

I work with a variety of models both in their “pure form” and in an integrated approach to suit your needs. These include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Compassion Focussed Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing

Taking the next steps

I appreciate that looking for a therapist can feel a bit overwhelming and confusing. I hope the information above will help to answer some of your questions but if you would like to know more, please contact me in confidence via our team at Avenue Therapies by email or phone (020 7112 8834).

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working with people with long term conditions for the last 12 years in a variety of settings to date, including in the NHS, third sector and private sector. During this time I have spent 2 years as the Long Term Conditions Lead for people with chronic illness in a primary care mental health service and I currently work in a specialist in Haemoglobinopathies service in the NHS. I also have several years of experience in helping people to make and sustain behaviour changes to achieve healthier lives.

I work with Chronic Health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, IBS, chronic pain, CFS/ME as well as cancer and identity difficulties, particularly with those who identify as LGBTQ+.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
