About me

Life can sometimes throw us a curve ball and can be challenging to deal with, working together alongside a counsellor can often help you make choices and changes to deal with difficult situations. Everyone goes through challenges and sometimes life changing situations, and while you may have made it successfully through other difficulties you face, there is no shame in seeking out extra support when you feel you need it.

I work in a person-centered way and offer a friendly down-to-earth approach to therapy, providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk.

I believe counselling is about change - whether that change is about life situations, difficult feelings or other issues that you find at the forefront of your mind. Whilst we cannot change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to enable change to take place to enhance your future.

As an integrative trained counsellor I work flexibly and collaboratively, tailoring therapy to the needs of each person I see, this enables them to explore how life is, how they feel about it and how they react to certain situations within it with the aim of them finding a positive way forward.

I commit to personal continual development to enable my own growth and enrich my knowledge to work with clients in an effective way.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I adhere to their ethical framework for the counselling professions. I have professional civil liability insurance and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
