About me

Hi, my name is Karolina, I am a Humanistic counsellor and therapist, offering sessions exclusively online or via telephone. Clients come to therapy for different reasons. You might feel overwhelmed, anxious, depressed or just have a feeling that something is not right. You don't have to face these challenges alone. I strive to create a welcoming, warm, and safe space, where we can explore how you can develop more adaptive thoughts, feelings and behaviours and learn more about yourself.

My therapeutic style is centred around compassion, respect and empathy, and I value working collaboratively to support your growth and healing. I work within the humanistic approach, where I believe that each client is the expert on themselves. I am here for you to help hold whatever you wish to bring to the therapy, help you to explore your feelings; not just about presenting issues in your life, but whatever you desire to bring. I can help you increase awareness of what is important to you and realize ways that your strategies to cope might not serve you anymore. I work relationally, where I believe we can create a space together where all the healing and growth can happen. I strive to help you to see choices where you might not have seen them before because I believe that greater choices can help you become more authentic.

Training, qualifications & experience

Previous to my training, I have a decade of experience working within the health and social care sector – both within the NHS and privately.

I hold a postgraduate diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy and Counselling from the University of Brighton. As part of my training, I worked as a therapist in a hospice, supporting people with grief and loss. I have also volunteered for a low-cost counselling charity supporting people who have experienced depression, anxiety, alcoholism and low self-esteem to name a few. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), which means I follow their standards and ethical framework.

Qualifications:

  • PGDip in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy, University of Brighton
  • TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies - Cara, Worthing College
  • Level 2 Counselling Skills - BCOT Basingstoke College of Technology

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
