About me

This is a place where you matter, no matter what you're going through. I'm here to listen without judgment. Let's work together to make sense of things and find a path forward.

Hello, I'm Julie. I’m a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor with extensive experience working with adults and young people aged 11 and over.

I recognise that taking the step toward counselling can feel overwhelming for many. My aim as a counsellor is to ensure you feel at ease and comfortable throughout our sessions. I understand that it's challenging to get a real sense of a person solely through a profile page.  That's why I offer all new clients a free 30 minute initial phone call or video call before the first session. This gives you the chance to ask questions and learn more about how we might work together.

Here's what I can offer:

  • A welcoming, safe, and supportive space where you can freely discuss and explore what's on your mind.
  • My counselling approach is person-centred, which means I prioritise letting you lead the sessions at your own pace.  We work together collaboratively; my role is not to dictate but to support you in understanding yourself better and finding your own answers and pathways forward.
  • Confidentiality is the highest priority in our sessions, ensuring that whatever we discuss remains private to enable a sense of safety and trust.
  • You'll find warmth, empathy (meaning I'll truly try to understand how you're feeling), and a non-judgmental approach, which will help you feel accepted and confident to be yourself during our sessions. Your wellbeing is my foremost concern.

If you’re interested in working together, please do contact me.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience:

In addition to seeing clients privately, I also work with a local charity, offering counselling to adults and young people from various backgrounds with different issues. This involves counselling at a local school for students aged 11-18, which has been a really rewarding experience.

I'm registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I'm committed to continuing my professional development. Recently, I've taken courses in Working with Children and Young People, Understanding the Impact of Pornography, Internet Safety, Suicide & Self-harm and more.

Qualifications and training:

I am a fully qualified counsellor with a:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • DBS
  • Insured

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
