About me

Hi! I'm Jonathon at Mindsight Counselling.

Life is a series of challenges, and it’s worth pausing to take stock along the way. Sometimes we need to stop and listen to our thoughts and feelings to ensure we’re heading in the right direction. That’s where I can help.

As the founder of Mindsight, I am passionate about helping people to be the best version of themselves. As a business owner, I recognise how important positive mental health in the workplace is, having seen first-hand how powerful a positive culture of wellbeing can be.

As a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, my aim is to help individuals understand themselves better, so that they can unlock their potential and live a healthy and happy life. Believing in better is a mantra I hold dear and I firmly believe that all of us can improve our wellbeing by exploring ourselves on a deeper level and tackling the blockages we might discover along the way.

My motivation is to get the best out of people.  I believe that we all know ourselves better than we might realise, and by providing a safe, honest and supportive environment I can work with individuals to unlock the answers that often lie within.

I work in the North Cotswolds area and see clients face-to-face, online or over the telephone. I also offer a 'at home' service where I can travel to your home in the local area.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working with a wide and diverse range of people and issues, with an emphasis on seeing each person as an individual and taking an approach specific to their needs. I am Kink aware and an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills

Training

As part of my studies, I have been a volunteer at Cruse Bereavement service and as such have undertaken their rigorous training programme. I also volunteered as a counsellor in a local high school.

I am a volunteer with a well-known Cotswolds Counselling charity.

I regularly attend Continuing Professional Development courses so that I work to the best of my abilities.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
