About me

I am a BABCP and BACP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist with over twenty years’ experience of working in the NHS and private sector, mental health services. I primarily work from a cognitive-behavioural/mindfulness/acceptance commitment therapy perspectives, however, I value and use a range of therapeutic models according to the needs of the individual.

The way we think, feel and behave is often interrelated and my therapeutic approach is to offer an understanding of this. Modifying thinking and behaviour, can allow flexibility and can act to reduce distressing emotions. Through a collaborative and supportive approach, I work with individuals to offer alternative coping strategies.

I am based in South Gloucestershire, however, please note that all my sessions are currently being held online. I've been working online for over 10 years and research indicates that CBT delivered online is as effective as in person CBT. It is a convenient and accessible way to access CBT and I send a summary email after each session.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
