About me

It can feel like a big decision to come into counselling, some issues feel too big and others too small...in light of this as a qualified experienced BACP registered humanistic counsellor, I create a safe, non-judgemental space to explore whatever your issues may be. I believe that exploring with someone else can be a positive step to begin to live with more choice, you don't have to stay trapped.

I take a holistic approach and value your individuality and your context – after all we all live complex lives. I believe ultimately you are your own best expert, but you might have got stuck somewhere, perhaps you have experienced difficult situations or troubling thoughts and emotions. Exploring together we can work to shift that stuckness and shift to living more fully.

Next steps...why not phone or email for a free 30min consultation. We can discuss what's you'd like to get from counselling and whether this feels like the right path for you. If it does, we can then arrange to meet weekly or fornightly for regular sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified, experienced humanistic counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I draw on a variety of theoretical perspectives, (including Gestalt, Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory) creative explorations and practical tools to help you better understand yourself and the choices you make in life.

As a BWY qualified yoga teacher I can also work with mindfulness and mediation as another form of support to develop.

I have experience of open-ended and time-limited therapy and have worked in private practice counselling organisations and an NHS setting. I have experience with a wide variety of clients and their issues including relationships, general anxiety, health anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, sadness, low mood, depression, suicidal ideation, loneliness and isolation, anger management, family conflicts, parenting problems and post-natal depression.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
